Relief and Medical Service in Burma

Burma has endured decades of conflict, and the violence following the 2021 military coup has displaced millions of people throughout the country. Many families have been forced from their homes and now live in remote communities or temporary displacement sites with limited access to food, shelter, medicine, and reliable healthcare.

Cornerstone Foundation is committed to serving people affected by this crisis through medical care, humanitarian relief, and sustained support for relief workers serving inside Burma.

Cornerstone’s Work in Burma

Cornerstone’s involvement in Burma began through the provision of surgical equipment and medical supplies for teams serving communities affected by conflict. This support has included specialized surgical materials, a portable x-ray machine and an ultrasound machine for use in areas where access to medical equipment is extremely limited.

In 2024, Dr. Hsin entered Burma on a relief mission with Free Burma Rangers. During the mission, he performed orthopedic surgery, cared for injured patients, and trained local medical professionals. He returned again in 2025 and through the Cornerstone Foundation, continues to support medical service in Burma by providing medical supplies and occasionally sending medical personnel to work alongside local teams.

The Free Burma Rangers is one of Cornerstone’s primary partners in carrying this work into conflict-affected and difficult-to-reach areas.

Ongoing Relief Work

The largest part of Cornerstone Foundation’s ongoing work in Burma is its support of Coby and Nyo Chaw Hsin as they serve the people of Burma through Free Burma Rangers.

Coby serves as a Burma Area Coordinator, helping lead small relief missions and coordinate medical, logistical, and humanitarian support. Nyo Chaw serves as a relief worker and medic. She also provides patient care during mobile clinics to IDP camps and villages, works with displaced and rural communities, treats patients during relief missions, and helps support local relief teams.

Together, Coby and Nyo Chaw spend much of the year serving on relief missions inside Burma. Their work includes emergency medical care, mobile clinics, humanitarian giving, relief distribution, mission coordination, logistics, documentation, and support for communities affected by conflict.

Through supporting their ongoing relief work, Cornerstone helps maintain a consistent presence among people who may otherwise have little access to outside assistance.
